Welcome to the website of the Sherwood Dales Neighbourhood Watch and Community Group. If you are a resident of the Sherwood Dales, please register with our community. You can check whether we cover your street on our area page.

Once registered, we’ll update you with general news and information about our projects and initiatives. You’ll also be able to leave comments on this website, and register for our events.

If you would like to help us with our aims, please visit our volunteering page for more information. Alternatively, please consider donating to our group to help us cover our modest expenses.

Community Aims

Through our community, we aim to achieve the following:

Safety

First and foremost we want to make our area as safe as possible.

Community icon

Community

Life is better when we know our neighbours and look out for each other.

We have more agency when we work together with neighbours and public bodies.

Guiding Principles

The aims above will be achieved by adhering to the following guiding principles:

Engagement icon

Engagement

Effective engagement, both with residents and external organisations, is essential to achieve our aims.

Safety and Power in Numbers icon

Safety and Power in Numbers

Just like in nature, there is safety and also power in numbers. We look out for and support each other.

Informed icon

Informed

Residents need to be aware of our progress; transparency in all matters is paramount.

Democracy icon

Democracy

Our organisation is run using a servant-leadership ethos, not as a dictatorship. The majority rules.

You can use our requests board to tell us what you think we should be focusing on, and our report crimes/incidents form to tell us about problems. To get in contact with us, use our contact form. For more information about our organisation see our community group resources page, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for try our search feature.

Projects and Initiatives

As well as working on priority issues and suggestions, with your help we’ll progress the following projects and initiatives:

Neighbourhood Watch Logo

Neighbourhood Watch Alignment

We align our safety aspirations with the Neighbourhood Watch ethos, minus the curtain twitching!

Seasonal Parties and Social Events

To help people connect in real life, we will organise social events; anything from pub quizzes and members meetings to summer parties.

Notify a Neighbour

Some of our neighbours will need more help, particularly the elderly and those living alone. We aim to look out for and help these people when they need it.

Volunteer Task Forces

Whether it’s getting our spades out and weeding, or surveying speeding vehicles, we aim to solve issues on our estate through people-powered task forces.

If you need a trades-person, why go out to the wider market if there is someone on the estate offering these services? Similarly, someone may wish to donate or trade their time to help you.

Crime and Incidents Log

Keeping track of crime and incidents is an important part of measuring our success as an organisation. As well as reporting all incidents to the police, we’d be grateful if you keep us informed too.

CCTV and Smart Doorbell Register

When incidents do happen, recording devices such as doorbells and cameras can be a gold mine of information. Please let us know what devices you have so we can speed up the process of evidence collection.

Active Communication Channels

Although we favour in-person communication, we recognise the importance and reach of active online communication, whether it’s to track down a missing pet, or to locate a parcel.

Garage Sale Safaris

If you’ve got unwanted items to sell, our garage sale safari afternoon could be the event for you. For a small fee, you can register your stall and be included on our safari map. Bargain hunters get ready!
