Despite living in times of unprecendent technological connectivity, people are living more isolated and insular lives, and the increasingly frantic pace of modern life means we rarely make time to get to know, or even speak to, our neighbours.
We believe that when people come together and form lasting local connections, life works better and can be more meaningful. The Sherwood Dales Neighbourhood Watch and Community Group aims to facilitate connections between residents of the Sherwood Dales area, both virtually and face-to-face, helping make it a better place to live.
Here you will find resources and information for our Sherwood Dales Neighbourhood Watch and Community Group.

Objectives
In addition to the aims and principles on our home page, our objectives are as follows:
- Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour with people powered initiatives and alignment with Neighbourhood Watch, helping people to feel safer in and around their homes.
- Increase community spirit and cohesion through the organisation of local events, such as seasonal parties and garage sale safaris.
- Ensure that neighbours with additional needs, particularly those without family members nearby, don’t feel alone and isolated, and have people to turn to when they need extra assistance.
- Allow local people and organisations to share their skills and services, whether paid-for or offered freely; everyone benefits when supply and demand operates in smaller areas.
- Use group representation to interface with local bodies, such as the police and council. One focused voice representing the views of many is more powerful and efficient than piecemeal requests falling into administrative black-holes.
- Solve minor issues through the use of self-organising task forces, increasing pride in the area where we live.
- Allow residents the opportunity to volunteer, giving back to their community in fulfilling and enjoyable ways.

Ribblesdale Book Exchange

If you’ve just finished reading a book and are looking for your next page turner, the Ribblesdale Book Exchange could be just what you need. This service is kindly hosted and maintained by Paul Davis at 97 Ribblesdale Road. Simply look for the white book case at the front of his house and swap your finished book with one in the collection.

Legal Status
Companies House
We officially registered the Sherwood Dales Neighbourhood Watch and Community Group CIC (Community Interest Company) with Companies House on 26th August 2025.
Our company number is 16673199 and our registered office is 23 Cragdale Road, Nottingham, NG5 3HX. You can see full details in our Companies House entry.
Please note that joining any or all of our platforms does not automatically make you a member of the CIC, and does not of itself create any formal legal responsibilities or liabilities associated with CIC membership.
ICO
Sherwood Dales Neighbourhood Watch and Community Group CIC is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a data controller. Our registration number is ZC055348. You can view our registration on the ICO website.
Financial
Being registered as a CIC allowed us to open a business bank account, which we use for donations and to pay for any items and services we need. We went with the Charity and Community Bank Account provided by the Co-operative Bank. We can thoroughly recommend this service – it was very simple to set up and our account was live within a few days.
Our CIC is a not-for-profit organisation and we rely on donations from our members. We are always on the look our for grants too, and are working on ways to allow local businesses to contribute to our community. All donations and proceeds are put back into the organisation to pay for things we need, such as room hire, printed materials and technology (such as this website).
We aim to keep our finances 100% transparent. You can find more information on our group finances page.
If you are aware of any grants that could bid for, please let us know via our contact form.
