A free service for our members
We’re working with Nottingham City Council to make it easier for residents to clear leaves and other natural debris from council street trees. Registered members can receive officially labelled black bags and request coordinated collections once they are full.
This is in addition to the annual council leaf clear. We will also coordinate and advertise a set of dates for the annual council leaf clear across Sherwood Dales.
How does it work?
- We allocate your bags. Each official black bag has a sticker showing your unique Resident Number.
- Fill the bags with natural debris from council street trees.
- Tell us by midnight on Friday when you have bags ready, giving your address, Resident Number and number of full bags.
- We coordinate the collection. Only bags that have been reported will be collected.
A maximum number of bags will be allocated to each household. Used bags will be replaced once they have been filled and reported for collection.
What can go in the bags?
👍 Yes – natural debris from council street trees
- Leaves, small twigs, safe pieces of branch and other natural debris.
- Leaves that have fallen from street trees into your front garden.
- A larger piece that will not fit in a bag may be placed safely alongside it.
👎 No – household waste or debris from non-council trees
- Do not include food or other household waste, or leaves, twigs or branches from trees on your own property or any other non-council tree.
Contaminated bags may not be collected, and repeated contamination could result in the service being withdrawn.
When do collections happen?
Collections will normally take place weekly. When you report your full bags, we will tell you the expected collection day.
Occasionally the council may need to cancel or postpone a collection at short notice because of operational issues. If this happens, we’ll let you know.
How do I report bags ready for collection?
By midnight on Friday, let us know you have bags ready for collection using any of the following methods:
- WhatsApp the Street Tree Debris group, which is part of our Sherwood Dales Community.
- Email info@sherwooddales.org.uk.
- Message 07714 287 307 either using WhatsApp or text/SMS.
Please be sure to provide the following details:
- Resident Number.
- Address.
- The number of full bags ready for collection.
Only bags that have been reported will be collected.
