Small Wins for our First Birthday
š Ay-up neighbours! On 26 August, our Community Interest Company (CIC) will celebrate its first birthday. We thought weād mark the occasion by having a look at some of our recent small wins. Major objectives such as improving the rain gardens, reducing vehicle speeds in the area, improving the safety of the Mansfield Road junction and ridding the Dales of weeds are difficult and take time, not least because they require active participation from organisations such as the police and the council. An Update on the Mansfield Road Junction
Ay-up neighbours! š Following a number of reports of accidents and near-misses at the junction between Ribblesdale Road and Mansfield Road, we wrote to Nottinghamshire County Council, the body responsible for the junction, to raise our concerns. We have received a response from them, which is included below. As you’ll see, they have said that other areas with higher accident statistics are their priority, and that they have no plans to make alterations to the Ribblesdale Road/Mansfield Road junction. Update on the Rain Gardens
Ay-up neighbours! After what feels like months of plugging away, weāre now seeing some progress with the council when it comes to the rain gardens. Theyāre looking to work with us as a community to improve them and have made a bid for an internal grant to cover replanting, which we hope will be successful. Whatever the outcome, the gardens need clearing in readiness for the next steps. Judith Penney has kindly offered to lead the charge on getting them cleared out, but she needs your help. Ay-up neighbours! Since our volunteersā meeting back in July, weāve been busy working on important setup tasks for our community – that’s why things have been a little quiet. We wanted to give you a quick update on what weāve been working on, what weāve achieved so far and what we have coming up. Ay-up neighbours! We wanted to give you all a quick update following our volunteers’ meeting at the end of July. Thanks once again to all who attended. Overall, the meeting was very positive. We identified a small number of priorities which we can start working on immediately, and generated lots of ideas we can explore as our group develops.
